Vaccinating Newborns Is No Longer Enough

vaccination-whooping-cough_171x200_CPM8TPNow they want to vaccinate pregnant women with potentially dangerous vaccines. Where will this lunacy end?

The old DTP vaccine caused brain damage in infants. The new DTaP vaccine has uncertain risks—and also may not work. The government solution is to start vaccinating even before birth.

This is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s new recommended vaccine schedule—which includes notable changes. The CDC is recommending that pregnant women receive the DTaP vaccine during the later stages of their pregnancy, to protect the mother from diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough), and then pass that immunity on to the fetus through the placenta. The justification is that most babies become ill or die from these diseases before they are old enough to be vaccinated, so this will give them immunity before they’re even born.

The problem is that one of the elements of the vaccine, for whooping cough (pertussis), can be very dangerous. The whole-cell pertussis vaccine was created in 1912 and contains B. pertussis bacteria. Its toxins (both exotoxins and endotoxins) are some of most lethal in nature, causing tremendous inflammation throughout the body.

When a vaccine of this sort is created, the bacteria’s exotoxins are inactivated or suppressed in the lab while other properties, typically immunogenicity, are maintained so that the body will create antibodies. With the pertussis vaccine, its exotoxins can cross the blood–brain barrier under certain conditions, which can trigger brain inflammation (encephalitis) and cause permanent brain damage. This is the version that was in the old DTwP vaccine (the w stands for whole-cell pertussis).

About twenty years ago the pertussis vaccine was reformulated into a less reactive version with fewer side effects called the DTaP vaccine; the a stands for acellular. The DTaP vaccine still contains the pertussis toxin, albeit at a lower dose and in a purer form, so the danger of brain inflammation still exists.

B. pertussis also produces endotoxins, and the immune system’s reaction is similarly inflammatory, releasing so much histamine that it can sometimes cause high fever, swelling, diarrhea, collapse, shock, and death. The newer DTaP vaccine also contains these endotoxins. Then there are the preservatives such as aluminum. Are we really crazy enough to want to expose unborns to this?

DTaP recommendations have also been expanded to include routine vaccination of adults aged 65 and older despite the aluminum, which has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease.

Ironically, even mainstream medicine is beginning to question whether the pertussis vaccine is all that effective in first place. There’s a worldwide epidemic of whooping cough going on, and the vaccine doesn’t seem to be doing much to prevent the disease. Immunity seems to be weak and to wear off rather quickly—in as little as three years. Is it even worth the risk? As our colleagues at ANH-Europe point out:

Much of the effectiveness of the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine is a statistical mirage; it’s hardly surprising that the current US outbreak is occurring against a background of record vaccination rates. Washington, for example, one of the states worst affected by the current outbreak, recorded that 92.9% of children aged 18–36 months received 3 or more doses of the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP) vaccine in 2010–11.

The CDC’s new vaccine schedule also removes previous precautions about pregnant women being given the hepatitis A vaccine—despite the fact that its safety for pregnant women has not been determined. Moreover, hepatitis A has a mortality rate of less than 1%, and almost everyone who gets it recovers without treatment. So why is a vaccine necessary? Some hepatitis A vaccines contain aluminum as an adjuvant. Why recommend pregnant women expose themselves to the vaccine’s risks with so little benefit?

Several states have introduced vaccine legislation that we’re keeping an eye on. Because the number of bills is large, we won’t include all the alerts here. Instead we’ll shortly send out individual alerts to readers in each affected state.

Has anyone made a connection between SIDS an vaccinations? About 30 years ago I had a friend that took their 3 month old in for a checkup and he died that night. The doctor said at the visit the baby was fine. I never asked if he was vaccinated that day.

What the protesting doctor above does not tell you is that 30 years ago, pertussis in infants under a year old was unheard of or a very rare and bizarre anomaly. Why? Because natural immunity was passed to baby from Mom in utero and through breast milk. No one has even proven that vaccine immunity can be passed to baby, so it is a risk not worth taking. It is because of mass over vaccination that infants are even at rsk for pertussis in the first place. We are also seeing epidemics of shingles in younger and younger individuals thanks to the chicken pox vaccine that is ensuring none of us are re-exposed or naturally boosted by being around children with chicken pox. The result is shingles and the answer is of course one more vaccine added to the already bloated list. Vaccinating pregnant women for anything DTaP or Flu is unproven, untested, and the mothers of today and their babies are simply guinea pigs for the pharma industry.

Another great reason to use a midwife and have your baby at home. That way you know your baby is not getting any medicine or shot you don’t want them to have (which would be none for my kids) and you are not pressured into getting a shot you don’t want during your pregnancy. I’m about to have home birth #4 and it’s the ONLY way to go (assuming mom is healthy, of course).

Agree, Carolyn. I had 3 home births, the last one was 20 years ago. All 4 kids remained immunization-free.lbj

My grandson was born January 16, 2013. My daughter had the new DTaP during her last trimester. My grandson was born with a fever and infectious bacteria in his bloodstream. He had to stay in the hospital for 13 days, taking intravenous antibiotics for all but the last three days he was there. They even did a lumbar puncture on him to see if he had meningitis.

After reading this article and the comments I have become convinced that the cause of my grandson’s infection was the vaccination. How else could he get sick but through his mother.

By the way she is not a sickie. She was born at home with a mid wife attending. Was nursing her first day and has an immune system that is amazing. She can get the flu and be well within a day. This actually happened when she was a teen.

The point is that my grandson didn’t get sick from his mother but from what was given her mother by her doctor.

She wasn’t sick the entire pregnancy, except for high blood pressure and having to have a “C” section because of the blood pressure etc.

I am mad about this and want someone to pay and pay big enough so no one will ever try this on any segment of the populace again for any reason.

Minus an epidemic practices like vaccinating pregnant women is over reach. Where is womans right to choice over her body represented? Practices like these reach penacle in a culture wherein its citizens delegate human welfare to the state. An epidemic exists in over reach and delegation of human welfare.

  6. This is all about commercial sales, at one end selling the vaccination and at the other treating the diseases that these vaccinations create such as autoimmune diseases (a 9 billion dollar industry by 2015) and the rising numbers of autistic patients. And for the medical industry, from treatment centers to pharmaceutical companies it is a win, win situation. Adding in their control of our Nanny Government offices of HHS, FDA and CDC they can enact laws to force this on us, like it or not.

It will end when enough of us stand up like men and women and say “NO more “VACCINATION”; NONE for NOTHING (improper English for emphasis). Not for me, not for my children, not for my pets. NONE, none, none!

Upon the birth of a grandson, I was informed that I needed to get a vaccinated against Pertussis, or I would not be welcome at the scheduled celebration in my daughter’s home. My ex couldn’t get to the doctor fast enough, and I’m happy he attended, and he’s fine. So far, they have to chase, and catch me to vaccinate me against anything but Tetanus.

When I was in the hospital for surgery at one point, I received the pneumonia vaccine. No choice.

I cannot bring up the subject of vaccines, or any other information pertaining to babies I might have. So I have remained on the bench admiring my grandson from afar. Fortunately, I do live about 500 miles away, and on the occasional visit, I’m careful.

“C’est la vie”, I say aloud, but to myself I worry my grandson will become just another American pincushion for vaccine statistics.

I STRONGLY disagree w this op-Ed on vaccinating pregnant women w dTaP. Yes the old vaccine had problems b/c it contained whole killed – cell B. pertussis. Yes, studies have also shown the new acellular pertussis vaccine has lower efficacy than hoped. BUT the neonates who are too young to be vaccinated & get pertussis have VERY severe & often fatal disease. I have a friend who is a Ped ICU nurse & she says most of the pertussis babies admitted DO die! Immunizing the pregnant moms induces protective natural (yes NATURAL) passive immunity by virtue of Mom’s Abs crossing the placenta to protect fetus & neonate. Vaccination is for the most part NOT dangerous. Even vaccines that have side effects are MUCH better than getting the infectious disease in question. You are doing a GREAT disservice with this erroneous information

I disagree with your assessment that vacines are for the most part not dangerous. An unbiased study of the data regarding the efficacy of and adverse reactions from vaccines will show that vaccines are for the most part non-efficacious and and highly significant adverse reactions, ranging from mild to severe immune impairment, neurological disorders and even death. As a former employee of the medical education industry I am far more aware than the average person of the financial intent of the pharmaceutical industry and the manipulation of data that occurs, to either throw or prove a desired outcome. Medicine has many triumphs and vital uses, and is critical in emergency care, but it is highly dangerous to use pharmaceuticals and vaccines in every stage of life. It is creates a society that has a life-long dependancy on those drugs because of the initial administration of drugs and toxins, and creates an permanent income stream for the pharmaceutical and other industries and agencies.

I know that pertussis does torture children because my own mother had it when she was a child.
Had there been any vaccine for it in those days it would have hurt her an awful lot less.

I was vaccinated, but still had pertussis. Yes, it is very hard on your body, but unless you are an infant, you recover in a few months and have immunity to it for something like 20 years. Vaccines may prevent you from getting the diseases (or may not) and also may get you sicker and weaker in long run. I am suffering from autoimmune disorder all my life because of vaccinations, had a reaction, (In my time it was not near as many vaccines as now) and only now I finally found the way to control it. It cost me a lot of money too. Pertussis can be controlled by large amount of vitamin C if started right away when you suspect you have it. This lowers Pertussis toxins and protects your lungs which ease the cough. So, it is not so bad if you know what to do and do it right away. The problem that now-days doctors don’t know anything about treating diseases the real way. They only know how to prescribe drugs and drugs don’t help in many cases. My kids do not have vaccines. They are healthy. I have to be informed about natural effective treatments for everything myself and never rely on a doctor.

Let’s not forget that last fall, Merck was shown to have also falsified the effectiveness of the whooping cough vaccine! It used animal antibodies to fake the required 95% effectiveness rate.

This after last year about now being fined for One Point Three Billion dollars for falsifying safety information on one of their drugs for a decade or so.” Hmmm. Just slipped my mind – meant to correct that, but you know how that goes . . .”

They reassured their investors they had 3 Billion in cash sitting ready for that sort of fine. Do the critical thinking thing here: They basically stated that they have illegal and criminal activity as corporate policy. They have a stash of money for when they get fined by getting caught for illegal activities. And people trust any damb thing this company does, makes, or sells? (thinking GMO Gardasil here: recombinant HPV/Yeast genetics)

  13. I object to any pregnant women being vaccinated when the risks are either high or not determined, and the benefits are questionable. This should be a last resort only. And it does not seem justified.
