I am opposed to CODEX. I am especially opposed to any Federal regulatory agency that desires to impose corporate mandates to our local farmers markets. This is another example of the wasteful spending of the taxpayers monies. It is NOT necessary for the Federal Government to invest time and money attempting to oversee our Farmers Markets or tie them into a bill aimed at the corporate food industry.

I support the work of Tester to get the government out of the lives of America’s small farmers and business people. We are already over-regulated on the County and State levels. Enough!

Most free-thinking Americans do NOT want codex. Furthermore, we are adults who are able to make our own decisions without a world / global government regulating what we can and cannot ingest.

I also support the Tester Amendments to ban unneccessary red tape that hurts the small farmer and honest business person.

here we go again! the government trying to fix something that isn’t broken. i don’t hear of any big heallth problems coming from local small farm food. i.e. farmers markets.
mostily i hear of meat packers or large producers of vegtables. bad hamburger and spinach.
who doesn’t love sweet corn from the grower? real tomatoes that haven’t been shipped around the country. how about some chicken that have no antibiotics, etc? you wouldn’t believe the difference!
give the small farmers a break. get off their backs! go to a farmers market this week. taste the difference!
i back Testers bill. LEAVE SMALL FARMERS ALONE!

I opposed the so-called Food Safety Bill as a threat to natural health and health freedom. Please prevent language that would have committed the US to harmonization of food standards with the rest of the world under a completely flawed process known as CODEX. Now I need your help to promote two excellent amendments to the bill that would exempt small food producers and producers who sell their food directly to market (such as farmers’ markets) from new regulation.

The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (S.510) would add a new layer of regulation to even the smallest food producers. The rules that would apply to large, corporate food companies would also apply to family food producers across rural America, which are already regulated at the state and local level. The amendments offered by Sen. Jon Tester (D–MT) would reduce red tape and over-regulation of the already beleaguered small farmer or food producer.
Please support this bill.

People are too far removed from the land. As a result, too many people do not understand the plight of the small farmer. He/She cannot possibly be held to the regulations of big business. Percentages of taxes issued against the small farmer will kill him. We need these people who serve to be reminders of how the land can be misused, overused, how important the natural methods are between man and nature. They also deserve to be able to carry on the love of farming that comes down through generations in many families. Farmers children learn an early work ethic, morality of nature, and are rarely every in trouble. When there were many more of them, there were many fewer children in trouble. They should be a protected species. Their very survival depends on caring for the land, caring properly for their crops and making sure they are safe.

I support the elimination of CODEX rules and the unfair regulation that would be placed on small farmers and food producers. I believe, based on abundance evidence and books, that it is the large agribusinesses that are creating the safety issues by eliminating safety and health in favor of profits.

Please continue your efforts to shape this regulation so that it reigns in the corporate poisoning of America (with hormones, pesticides, GMOs and other toxic chemicals) and gives the organic farmers and individual small businesses who are growing healthy food (plant and animal) a boost.

I would really appreciate your support of the Tester amendments to the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, S510. We have always bought much of our produce from small local farms and growers and statistics to show this as one of our safest food supplies.

Please support the amendment to avoid the financial penalties that would seriously hurt, and maybe close, these small businesses.

As I live in Australia I cannot sign any petitions. I am sure you have many other subscribers who would like to add their voice of concern, as what is established in USA tends to be duplicated in other countries.

Would you consider a non-resident form to add to the voice,letting senators know that XXX number of people outside America are watching these senators and opposing.

Also getting these signature required forms sent out via Dr Mercola’s site. which reach milllions, would get even more signatures. It would be worth asking him.

I implore you to support the Tester amendments. Our small farmers, especially those producing health-promoting organic food would suffer greatly i the amendments. Additionally, the public would be adversely affected by not having easy access to local small farmers produce, which is definitely healthier with more nutrients intact, than food transported from large growers throughout the nation.

take care to keep your citizens honestly protected. the laws and regulations cannot be a one size fits all. if the bif corporations were honestly regulatded half of the nonsensical disasterous inhumanity would not be going down. in fact regulation is jot anything but a false insurance that someone is overseeing at every step of the way. i don’t think putting small farmers through this process will bring better quality food to the table nor add to the farmers credibility or profits. in fact i believe it will have the opposite effect. please do not over regulate as a means to give your citizen base a false sense of security when in reality it benefits big agriculture.

There is NO urgent need to “protect” consumers from small farmers or small food producers. There is a GREAT need to protect us from the filthy factory-farms and the large corporate food producers with their GMO & toxic ingredients and dirty factories.
The only possible reason for our corrupt FDA to include small farmers and food producers in this new layer of regulation would be to squash competition for the greedy, unethical large corporate food monopolies. We need to SUPPORT small farmers and organic food, not squash it!

Holy crap! Dianne Feinstein did one action that was actually correct! BPA needs to be banned from food containers and from water bottles.

On the back end of that, Big Gov should issue TAX CREDITS to companies making BPA free plastic now as well as to those who need to transition away from using BPA in future manufacturing efforts for at least 3-4 years. Mind you that is TAX CREDIT not handing out government money (AKA tax payer money) to help the process. Those credits will make the switch to all BPA free issue go down without a lot of kicking and screaming from current BPA using plastic makers.

CODEX is crap! Why should we, the sovereign USA, have to play by the rules of another? Let’s unburden our small to mid size farmers and keep our food choices in the hands of the growers and consumers and not some bureaucrat!

Tester’s work is solid on this issue. Good for him!
